Medecision Gets Out of the Infrastructure Management Business
Medecision transformed their SaaS based Health Analytics platform by consolidating multiple footprints across multiple vendors into a single, geo-redundant environment. Medecision and Rackspace partnered together to create a highly complex network topology that includes MPLS links, Cisco Nexus switch fabric and site-to-site VPNs to deliver a highly redundant, mirrored set up that reduces the risk of downtime. Medecision is also one of Rackspace’s largest ObjectRocket (MongoDB) customers, using this NoSQL database as part of the backend to their SaaS solution. They offloaded all management to Rackspace so that their teams can focus on innovating for the future, rather than “keeping the lights on” in their infrastructure.

Infrastructure Options for the Digital Economy: Run Your Business—Not Your Cloud
The cloud service delivery model is no longer an emerging, next-gen phenomenon: it is now an established IT deployment option not only for “cloud-native” start-ups but “traditional” businesses as well. However, with cloud maturity comes cloud complexity. Test/dev and PoC projects, as well as small-scale production environments work well in the “classic cloud” self-service, self-managed framework. But when that pilot project turns into a big money maker for your company, would you rather invest in personnel to run the business or hire/re-train IT staff to run the cloud infrastructure? The managed cloud approach offers a solution to this trade-off. In this presentation, Melanie Posey, Research Vice President for IaaS/Hosting and Managed Network Services will discuss the changing cloud consumption and deployment trends that contribute to heightened interest in the managed cloud approach which brings together next-generation technology innovation and a next-generation take on operations outsourcing/out-tasking. In this new era of business-led IT and digital business transformation “running the business” does not have to mean “running the cloud.”

Joshua Tillman, CEO of DialSource, explains how the Rackspace portfolio of products and hands-on expertise provides DialSource with a highly competitive edge in the cloud telephony space by allowing them to pay attention to their customers, instead of their infrastructure.

IT-as-a-Service - Becoming a Service Provider to the Business
Modern IT organizations are transforming themselves to become true partners to the business, and are permanently addressing the issue of “shadow IT.” Through a combination of brokered services from external providers and internal services delivered in a timely manner, they are acting more akin to “service innovators” as opposed to “system operators.” By adopting a service provider model, Central IT can ensure that consistent levels of governance, security and accountability are met, achieve faster time-to-delivery, offer higher levels of service, and enable greater clarity in costs through charge-back/show-back to business units. Join this strategic discussion that is transforming many IT organizations.
