Customer Reliability Engineer, Rackspace
Derek Remund joined Rackspace in 2009, following an early career as a developer specializing in networks and distributed systems. He has held a variety roles at Rackspace, including stints in systems engineering, dev-ops, and pre-sales engineering and architecture. In April of last year he was selected by Google to be a founding member of Rackspace’s Managed Google Cloud Platform team as a Customer Reliability Engineer. He focuses on enhancing the reliability and scalability of customer applications, particularly large scale and “big data” systems, by helping customers adopt site reliability engineering practices. He received a formal education in computer science at the University of Illinois, with specializations in software engineering and data mining, and was one of the first Certified Apache Cassandra Architects.
