JOHN CAMPBELL
Director of Product, Rackspace
John has a degree in Atmospheric Sciences and spent 5 years after graduating college as a broadcast meteorologist for TV stations in La Crosse, Wisconsin and Omaha, Nebraska. He once got a death threat for breaking into a Nebraska Cornhusker football game to warn Omaha residents of a tornado. Looking for a career with little chance of death threats, John started at Rackspace as an Account Manager in 2009. In 2012, he was asked to lead a Rackspace-wide effort to normalize and modernize support across the company. That role led to redefining the Rackspace Cloud service levels, officially supporting Rackspace Cloud APIs, changing the pricing structure, introducing new SLAs, and pushing a deeper focus on Developers and how they want to be supported. John also led the re-launch of Rackspace as the #1 Managed Cloud Company, which highlighted Fanatical Support as our differentiator and set the platform to launch third-party cloud support. John was then the lead for both the Microsoft and AWS relationships when we began discussing our third-party cloud partnerships. He now is for AWS and is responsible for the definition our expertise and service customers receive. He has not received a single death threat in his time at Rackspace.
