Vice President of Global Marketing, Web Performance and Security
John is responsible for driving global marketing strategy and execution for Akamai’s web performance and cloud security solutions, further building Akamai’s market share. He came to Akamai in 2013 from Rightster to hold the position of Vice President Marketing EMEA. At Rightster, he was Vice President of Product and Global Marketing.
Before this, John held the position of Vice President of Marketing for Alcatel Lucent’s Software and Services portfolios and also led the company’s ‘ng Connect’ innovation and ecosystem program. He joined Alcatel-Lucent via the acquisition of Velocix, a specialist provider of digital Content Delivery Network (CDN) solutions, where he served as Chief Marketing Officer (CMO). Previously, John held a number of senior marketing roles with leading vendors including SurfControl, webMethods, Volantis, Extricity, IBM and Hewlett-Packard.
In 2009, John was listed in Streaming Media Magazine’s top 10 list of most influential, innovative and important people in the European online video industry. In 2016, he was recognised as one of the top 100 B2B tech marketers in Europe by Hot Topics.
