Senior Vice President - Information Technology & Digital Media Engineering, Sesame Workshop
Shadrach Kisten serves as Senior Vice President of Information Technology & Digital Media Engineering for Sesame Workshop, the nonprofit educational organization behind Sesame Street.
Kisten came to the Workshop in 2011 as Vice President of Information Technology, Infrastructure and Operations. Since joining the Workshop, he has been successful in building out an agile, mostly virtualized infrastructure, to enable a mobile and cloud first environment.
As a member of the Senior Leadership team, Kisten has strategic and tactical oversight of Sesame Workshop’s network, systems engineering, cloud infrastructure, digital media engineering, content, client services, and project management functional groups. He is responsible for developing the overall information technology vision for the company, driving cross-company multi-faceted technology initiatives and solutions to meet the operational and business objectives of the company. Aside from leading strategic IT initiatives, he also focuses on building out scalable multi Web and digital properties for Sesame Workshop, which have won multiple industry awards.
Prior to joining Sesame Workshop, Kisten spent nine years at NBC/MSNBC. He held the role of Network Manager, Head of IT within the Engineering and Information Technology department, where he was the main architect in the design and implementation of the IT/IP infrastructure of MSNBC IT production, news gathering, acquisitions, creations, editing, newsroom, play out and distribution systems. He also served as Director of Production Systems at NBC Universal. While there, Kisten was the recipient of the National Broadcast Engineering excellence award for IPTV design and deployment, and obtained numerous company recognitions as “top talent.” He was awarded the GE Green Belt Certification for process and project management. Kisten has also had multiple consulting positions leading large scale infrastructure and software development and deployment projects.
Kisten earned his bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from City College, School of Engineering, City University of New York. He obtained his Masters in Computer Science with distinction from Long Island University, New York, and also earned a professional certificate in finance from New York Institute of Finance.
